Number Three.

I just had a wild moment of confusion - I have been thinking about a new post for about a week now, but kept thinking “I don’t want to inundate everyone with my life” and today I thought that enough time had elapsed to write another one. And then I opened up my page and realised that I had already written a third. It turned out to be a blank draught. So here is the new and improved third blog post, this time with words.

I think it’s been two weeks-ish since I last wrote anything, and stuff is more or less in the swing of things. I’ve settled into the rhythm of going to school and stuff, and I’ve been working really hard, and staying on top of all the work that I’ve been set - there is a pretty big workload, but often it doesn’t really feel like work, it just feels like interesting things to be doing just for the good of doing things. Super neat, isn’t that what studying should feel like yadda yadda yadda the course is great. I’ve been working on bringing Jerome to life firstly as an animal, and I think next it’ll be a sort of hot-seat interview about his life, which I am looking forward to, and have a lot to do between now and then! But as a giant otter, he was great, and I found a lot of joy flopping around on a classroom floor trying to swim (I couldn’t). I’ll be fully honest, I am slightly at a loss as to what my movement class is actually about, but I’m just sort of going along with it and hoping it’ll suddenly become clear in a couple of weeks. I am going to watch Sunset Blvd. later, in my latest of awesome old films to watch - and I haven’t already seen it, so I’m super excited to.

In extra-curricular activities, I have now hiked all the main trails instantly accessible from Hollywood, and halfway around Runyon Canyon I had a tropical storm ‘pon my headtop. Which was pretty badass to be honest; I’ve never seen lightening like it. I was looking at the whole of LA, and I could see the sheets of rain falling, and then the whole sky would light up in giant forks. I then waited in the rain for a bus that never came for 40 mins and that was less fun, but it was still hot and I was already soakéd through so it didn’t really bother me. If I tell you every detail of the last week and a half in that detail then I’d still be writing on the plane home, so I won’t; but I do have some fun things. We saw Anna Kendrick on a hike to the Hollywood reservoir. We stopped in the same place for a few seconds and I looked right at her and just smiled as I would for anyone walking past and it wasn’t until she was well past us that I realised it was her. I rode my first motorised scooter the other day and it was delightful. Just cruising down Melrose to my morning coffee on my scoots, living the life I always imagined. Except I never imagined a scooter, but I figure it’s only two wheels off a Mustang, and so I’m 50% of the way there. We took a trip to Santa Monica Pier the other day too and it was a lot better than Santa Monica the town - which I maintain is actually very average. But the beach was nice, and we saw an amazing sunset, and came across a DJ playing a set on the beach so we vibed for a while and moved on. In the background, a procession of neon-lit bicycles rode past playing music. A woman danced under a solo spotlight in the distance, surrounded by impressed onlookers and vloggers. It was all very LA. We went for a swift ‘alf at a “British Pub” afterwards and, aside from there being Guinness and the pub being managed by a bald fat man, there was nothing to link it to Britain at all. I think my travel writing is really improving, you know. I just re-read those last few sentences about Santa Monica and I really think there was some classy and informative writing.

The next post might be a bit sooner because there were too many things to write about for this one that some will have to go in the honourable mentions column that, on any normal week, would make my main paragraphs. It’s tough. See ya soon,

Hx

Honourable Mentions:

Went to a club in Hollywood and they weren’t accepting any cards that I offered them so I spent the entire night surviving off vibes alone.

Stumbled out of an uber that was a lot higher up than any car I’ve ever been in.

Bantered a teacher and got a good laugh from the class.

Took some wicked photos.

Have been eating blueberries every day.

Rode my first scooter (deserved another mention).

Arrived at the Hollywood reservoir in time for the sunset, only to be immediately told to leave.
